Concert “Adirondack – A Cappella”
Saturday, September 11, at 3:30 PM
On Saturday, September 11, at 3:30 PM, the Chapman Historical Museum will present a concert featuring the “Vintage Colgate 13” with Adirondack troubadour, Dan Berggren at Harrisena Community Church, 1616 Ridge Road, Queensbury, NY. The public is invited. Light refreshments will be served.Dan Berggren, well known for his songs and stories of Adirondack life, will start the afternoon’s program. His stories celebrate the hard-working folks who pioneered the region and those who still care for the balance of wilderness and human nature. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in the Adirondacks before attending St. Lawrence University where he sang with The Laurentian Singers. For over 65 years, the Colgate 13 has entertained audiences with some of the best a cappella singing anywhere. Eleven years ago, members of the Thirteen from the 1960s held a reunion in Lake George and discovered that their love for singing together had not diminished. Since then, they have gathered at the Lake and other locations to renew old friendships and perform for grateful listeners. Calling themselves “Vintage 13,” these young-at-heart musicians have an active repertoire of over 50 songs. Slow, fast, funny, sweet – they can do it all, from ballads to barbershop and from calypso to classic rock. Advance tickets ($10/person, $20 family max) may be purchased at the museum at 348 Glen Street, Glens Falls; tickets at the door are $13 ($25 family max). Reservations are suggested.
