|Talk by Mark Frost: The Chronicle's April Fools Issues||3/23/2017 7 pm - 8:30 pm|
Mark Frost will share some of his favorite April Fools stories featured on the front page of The Chronicle newspaper. Many will remember being bamboozled for a few moments by the headline “Lake George Bridge Plan Advances” with its accompanying very realistic illustration. Looking back further at issues in the 1980s, one finds “Lake George to be Chlorinated” and “Ramada Inn buys Great Meadows.” Some are outrageous, but others contained just enough truth that they were almost believable, and they all were entertaining.
The program is free and open to the public. It is presented in conjunction with the exhibit, Chronicle Classic Photos, on display at the museum through April 2nd. That afternoon, at 1 pm, Mark will offer a final gallery talk in which he shares the back stories to many of the photos in the exhibit.
